Portugal saw its first walk for patients with the Bate bate Coracao campaign in May 2009 -  more than 200 people participated in the the first walk for patients with implantable devices to help clarify myths concerning quality of life for patients.

Updates and Events:

   

6th June 2009: 280 patients with implantable devices participated in a 2200 meter public walk at the Expo in Lisboa to show their support for the campaign. Doctors and nurses participated by distributing patient information and made demonstrations on "what is an arrhythmia”, signs and symptoms of arrhythmias.

     

8th - 14th June 2009: In conjunction with Arrhythmia Alliance and the ‘Know Your Pulse' campaign, Bate bate Coracao promoted the importance of the simple procedure of a pulse check to educate the public that an irregular heartbeat may be an indicator of a potential heart arrhythmia.

18th June 2009: A Gala Dinner for patients with the participation of Carlos do Carmo, national fado singer and patient with a device in Portugal .
